Poll: Almost Four Out Of Ten Americans Cannot Name A
Single Right Under The First Amendment
Thomas Jefferson called an educated
public as “the only safe depositories of their own liberty.” If so, a
new poll conducted by the
University of Pennsylvania suggests that we have a serious problem. The
poll made a truly alarming finding that many Americans cannot name a single
first amendment right. Penn’s Annenberg Public Policy Center found 37
percent could not name any of the five rights protected by First Amendment and
fewer than half (48 percent) could name freedom of speech.
If you are not depressed enough, the
poll also found that one-third of Americans (33 percent) cannot name one of the
three branches of the U.S. government. Now here is the most crushing
state: only 26 percent could name the three branches.
Jefferson said:
“I
know no safe depositary of the ultimate powers of the society but the people
themselves; and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their
control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them,
but to inform their discretion by education. This is the true corrective of
abuses of constitutional power.”
I
might add:
If
you do not know or understand your constitution and constitutional rights, you
can easily be persuaded by false rhetoric. We see the radial left and
anarchist use names such as Fascist, and communist these so called well
educated idiots are clueless about. I might add when the educators are
remnants of the radical 60's, it shows that if you keep the people dumb and
stupid and under the belief they are educated this is what you get. Also,
I am sorry to say, we have many members of the democratic party that fall into
this group. That is why these people are a threat to our country and are being
financed by radicals such as George Soros and the OFA (Organization for Action)
group in an attempt to bring down our country. If you do not think so, I
suggest you do a little research and think about these radicals running
government. The old adage comes into play. "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it". Sometimes said as: "Those who fail to learn from history are doomed
to repeat it".
