As we see
signs across our country that those becoming infected is decreasing, it makes
one wonder what effect this is going to have on our lives. Will we still live the same or change?
For years it
has been reported that nearly 50% of Americans have less than $1000 in
savings. Will the old adage of saving
for a rainy day again become fashionable or will we continue to spend like
tomorrow may never come. It seems
whenever Apple develops a new I-phone, the lines outside their stores go around
blocks as people see this as a must have.
In fact, must have the latest on all devices seems to have priority in
many lives. Now that we are witnessing
the effect of a pandemic where businesses are closed and unemployment is on the
upswing and people are realizing they did not do what many grandparents had
lived by to save for the rainy day. This
is the rainy day. Many have depleted
what savings they had and are now seeking financial assistance realizing that their
life style may have been a contributing factor for this. Some will file for bankruptcy which seems
like that would never happen with the economy upswing that we had. Although our economy will come back, but may
not be back quick enough for some. It is
time for many to reflect on their lives and think and understand how they lived
and what they can and should do in the event a similar event comes along. Living high on the hog may feel good while
the money is there, but like many other things if will not always be there and
that lifestyle could come crashing down.
Also, we see
empty churches as various religions want to avoid the spread of this virus
among their parishioners and felt it better to suspend services until this
pandemic subsides. This is a choice made
by these organizations. However, if they
were forced to shut down as some have by edits from Mayor’s or Governor’s, then
we are looking at a constitutional issue and a violation of the 1st
Amendment. Requesting these religious organizations to
close down to reduce the spread of this virus is one thing, but ordering
churches to close is completely different.
If these edits are not shown to be a violation of the constitution, then
what will be next? Are we going to be
surrendering our constitutional rights at the whim of an elected official in
the future? I think we are at the
crossroads in our country between those who believe our rights come from God as
our constitution believes, and those who believe they come from government. If the government people win, we will lose
all our rights. If you do not believe
that, just look around the world where government’s give and take rights away
from their citizens as they see fit to do when the mood strikes them. Welcome to Socialism, Communism, Marxism and Progressivism. Being forced to do something in violation of our constitution is a downhill slide that may not stop unless we speak out. Give government an inch and they will take a yard.
