The attempt
by the republicans to pass a replacement for Obamacare hit a snag and appears
to be on the back burner. Who is
responsible for this bump in the road of Trump’s agenda?
We know that
Ryan was never a supporter of Trump during the campaign and was never seen
standing next to Trump even when Trump was campaigning in Wisconsin. Yet he likes to be portrayed as a great
supporter of Trump. But when it came
down to producing a bill, he failed. And
why was that? Well from appearances it
seemed that Ryan was going to show Trump who was boss in Washington, D.C. Well, he showed us who was boss and if he
worked in the Trump business, he would have been fired. What Trump did not understand was that Ryan
was part of the RINO’s and a piece of the swamp he wanted to drain.
For nearly
seven years we heard how the republicans had a bill ready to repeal and replace
Obamacare. They even put a bill on
President Obama’s desk for the repeal of Obamacare in 2015, but it was
vetoed. Since 2012 all we heard was give
us the House and we can stop Obama. Then give us the Senate also we can stop
Obama and Obamacare. Then it was all we
need is the presidency and with the controlling both houses of congress we can
repeal Obamacare.
We were all
led to believe that the republicans had a healthcare bill ready to go and yet
what we found out is they were all talk.
One would think we were listening to the democrats, but we forget that
they were students of the democrats in that you promise them everything at
election time and then forget what you promised.
So, we know
the election results came in and finalized on early Wednesday morning of
November 9th. So, one would
think that if the republicans were bull shitting us all these years, they would
have started to put a bill together on November 9th and get input
from all factions from both houses of congress and be ready to submit that bill
by mid-February at the latest. But, Paul
Ryan wanted to be the architect of the new healthcare bill and would not allow
debate or amendments to the bill, but wanted a vote. We all know, after the Nancy Pelosi statement
that “you must pass the bill to know what is in it” was not what the members of
the house and senate wanted. So, why
vote for a bill you could not read or permitted to submit amendments to make
changes. Sen. Rand Paul has a very good
plan, but Ryan and McConnell would not listen because as RINO’s they know
better.
Instead we heard about a 3 step process to replacing Obamacare and those of us who have been around the block a few times know we never would have gotten to the 3rd step. All the republicans had to do was submit the same bill that Obama vetoed with the expiration of Obamacare effective at midnight on December 31, 2017. In the meantime, they could pass a replacement bill where people could choose the policy they wanted, go across state lines if needed, have Health Savings Accounts and 50 year olds and older not have to pay for maternity care, among other items we were all forced to pay in our policies. In addition allow the purchase of Catastrophic coverage.
Trump
allowed these jerks to formulate a bill and in a weak attempt to get fellow
republican members to vote for the bill.
This debacle has shown the weak links in the republican establishment
and it is Ryan and the other members of his clan who are more interested in not
making waves, but making sure they get re-elected and the public who they are
supposed to serve get screwed again. Sounds like the Democratic Party to
me. It appears, come the next election in 2018, we
may have to drain the swamp in both parties beginning with Ryan, McConnell,
Schumer and Pelosi and their ilk.
As usual,
some of the talking heads say it is not Ryan’s fault the bill failed to
pass. But, if you do not allow review
and input on the bill even by your own
members of your party, then you are trying to push a bill that is not acceptable
and will not have the 216 votes needed to pass in the House. We knew and Ryan knew it was not going to
pass in the Senate without many changes, so the bill would have died there
unless McConnell had an Epiphany and saw the handwriting on the wall. And a stupid hard to explain and understand 3
step process that was totally unnecessary when just two bills repealing
Obamacare and another bill as the replacement was all that was needed. Sen. Rand Paul had the replacement ready to
go, but the RINO’s did not want to use the bill since it might have met the
approval of the people these RINO’s supposedly serve. We know the democrats were not going to
support a repeal in 2017, but with more rate increases due in 2018 and less
choices, they will come to the table in 2018.
So, the only way to pass an Obamacare replacement was using the Nuclear
Option. The democratic leaders, Pelosi
and Schumer have already stated they will not be cooperating with Trump and the
republicans, so using the Nuclear Option is a no brainer.
